Let's Talk Retreat Insurance

Today I’m bringing you a topic I get asked about A LOT: Retreat Insurance.

Do you worry about making sure you and your students are covered during your retreats?

Good. You should!

Many things can happen during your retreat, and you want to make sure you have a good layer of protection for your peace of mind.

I’ve seen and heard it all happen:

  • Students missing a flight and not making it to the retreat on time

  • Yoga teachers getting food poisoning from eating at the local market

  • People falling and hurting themselves during a river hike

  • Retreat cancellation due to extreme weather events

  • Clients wanting to cancel last minute

Leading a retreat has an inherent risk to it.

I say that not to discourage you, but to help you make the right decisions when it comes to covering yourself legally as much as you can.

After all, if you are stressing about these things throughout your retreat, that energy will inevitably affect the overall vibe at your retreat. That’s a no-no.

My motto is, “Expect the best but prepare for the worst” {I guess that’s the past-life lawyer in me}.

In this video, I got to chat with my dear friend and fellow retreat expert Lynan Saperstein from The Experience Experts about retreat insurance. She’s a real gem for sharing her retreat wisdom because she's worked worldwide planning retreats and helping retreat venues with their business and marketing strategy. She brings you a lot of goodness in this interview!

Here are the main topics we chat about in the video:

  • Business, Retreat Leader, and Yoga Teacher Insurance

  • Travel Insurance

  • Liability Waivers

  • Venue coverage

  • Travel Agents

  • Terms and Conditions and Agreements
